Applying and requirements

Registration, payment setup and qualifications

Official information

Hive’s instructions link to signup and require a verified PayPal account before a Bitcoin address can be configured, job qualification tests, and signature verification. They tell applicants to check PayPal support in their country.

Payment-service support and contributor eligibility are separate.

Pay

Task earnings, payout minimums and review

Payment terms

Hive pays for completed tasks through PayPal or Bitcoin. Its help pages describe Tuesday payment batches, released around 48 hours later after review, and configurable minimum payouts starting at $10 for PayPal and $20 for Bitcoin.

The dollar currency is unspecified. These are withdrawal thresholds, not earnings rates. Contributors can choose higher thresholds; the cited help articles were updated in 2021–2024.

Tasks can run out

Official information

Hive says task supply depends on current demand, time of day and the number of moderators online. Available task counts change as work is distributed among users.

The help page was updated in May 2021 and remains publicly readable. It does not promise a minimum amount of work or a country-specific allocation.

Low-pay and qualification complaints

Accounts cover September 2023–August 2026

Several Trustpilot contributors in 2025–2026 described low pay, lengthy tests or unexplained job bans. An older September 2023 contributor account described dependable payments and a positive overall experience.

Individual, unverified accounts from a self-selected review page. The positive account is older; neither the complaints nor praise establish typical earnings or a platform-wide success rate. Profile country badges are not verified work locations.

Independent reporting

Research on unpaid qualification time

Thesis: 2022

Laura Lascau’s 2022 UCL thesis identified unpaid qualification tests for specific Hive Micro jobs and a lack of required feedback for rejected work.

Historical platform-feature research, not a current inspection or representative wage survey. The study selected platforms through October 2021 searches and assessed documentation and platform interactions.
