Generalist and expert opportunities

Advertised rate

Mercor’s expert page lists generalist work at $80–$160/hour, law experts at $110–$150/hour, and accounting, HR and civil-engineering examples at $70–$80/hour. Its separate talent-network section lists physician opportunities at $110–$250/hour and machine-learning opportunities at $70–$250/hour. A clinician-survey card separately lists $90 without an hourly unit.

Selected role families; talent-network entries concern future matching. Qualifications typically require undergraduate-level expertise, often professional experience or an advanced degree. Rates vary by expertise, complexity and demand. Currency and role-specific geography are unspecified.

Official information

Mercor's referral FAQ says named listing regions control eligibility. When a listing omits location, it presumes access for candidates within the United States, Canada, United Kingdom or European Union.

This is current hiring guidance within the referral FAQ. It is narrower than the platform's supported-country list and does not say citizenship alone qualifies someone. Its wording does not cleanly distinguish residence from physical work location.

2026 contractor-benefits lawsuit

Troutman Pepper Locke’s June 2026 legal update described a suit alleging Mercor experts were misclassified and denied employee benefits. A public docket records Mercor’s motion to compel arbitration or alternatively dismiss, followed by an amended complaint and response.

White v. Mercor.io Corporation, filed 8 May 2026. Docket coverage ends 30 June 2026; allegations are unadjudicated in these sources.

Security incident and contractor lawsuits

WIRED reported on 3 April 2026 that Meta paused Mercor work, leaving affected contractors unable to log hours. Business Insider reported on 7 April that contractors had filed five lawsuits over alleged personal-data exposure; Mercor declined comment. In its 25 June update, Mercor said a limited subset of experts had sensitive information affected, reported no evidence of fraudulent use, and announced individual notices and identity-protection services. It also said all frontier labs had increased work with Mercor in the preceding months.
