Assigned Stripe Connect and Wise payout routes
Payment termsMercor assigns Stripe Connect or Wise by region/bank-account country; contractors do not choose the provider. Contracts are USD-denominated, with local-currency conversion at payout. Stripe Connect sends funds through Stripe Express to a linked bank; identity, bank and tax setup are required, the first payout has a seven-day Stripe hold, and the bank must be in the contractor's own legal name. Standard Stripe payout is advertised free and up to five business days after release; Instant has a 1% fee and an approximately 30-minute estimate only at supported banks. Wise is used where Stripe Connect is unsupported: each transfer must be accepted from an email sent to the registered Mercor address, using the contractor's own-name bank account. Wise balances, tags and debit cards are unsupported destinations.
Published contractor payment setup, not residence or work eligibility. Both routes require own-name bank accounts and two-factor authentication; joint, business and relative-owned accounts can fail checks. Stripe supports bank accounts rather than cards or wallets; a new Mercor-connected Stripe account is required. Hourly wages are released Wednesday around noon PST for the preceding Saturday-Friday IST week; bonuses/work trials/referrals use separate Wednesday/Friday release windows. Wise describes typical receipt around one hour after acceptance with country-corridor variation. These are stated schedules/estimates, not tested receipt guarantees; banks, holds and conversion affect outcomes. No universal minimum or net-receipt amount is established.

Official information
Mercor directs users to its Unsupported countries policy for location limits; that policy says it cannot onboard experts or issue contracts in excluded or unlisted locations. Its Bugs guide says VPN, proxy and anonymizing-network connections are blocked.
Current troubleshooting distinguishes invalid or inaccessible form links from network-connection errors. Neither error by itself establishes a country restriction. These are location and connection rules, not citizenship criteria or a guarantee of access to a role.

Mercor's referral FAQ says named listing regions control eligibility. When a listing omits location, it presumes access for candidates within the United States, Canada, United Kingdom or European Union.
This is current hiring guidance within the referral FAQ. It is narrower than the platform's supported-country list and does not say citizenship alone qualifies someone. Its wording does not cleanly distinguish residence from physical work location.

Security incident and contractor lawsuits

WIRED reported on 3 April 2026 that Meta paused Mercor work, leaving affected contractors unable to log hours. Business Insider reported on 7 April that contractors had filed five lawsuits over alleged personal-data exposure; Mercor declined comment. In its 25 June update, Mercor said a limited subset of experts had sensitive information affected, reported no evidence of fraudulent use, and announced individual notices and identity-protection services. It also said all frontier labs had increased work with Mercor in the preceding months.
