Prolific's participant help page lists 52 supported countries and territories, including Australia, South Korea, the USA, the UK, India and Indonesia. It bases eligibility on current residence rather than nationality. People in unsupported countries can join the waitlist, and Prolific sometimes invites exceptions. Its general FAQ conflicts with the participant list about Lithuania.

Participants must be over 18 and verify their accounts. The complete named list is in the participant help source; Lithuania needs confirmation because one official page includes it and another excludes it.

Standard cash-out threshold

Payment terms

Prolific says participants can cash out when their combined approved GBP and USD balance reaches its £6/$6 threshold; both currency balances are sent to PayPal.

Standard withdrawal threshold, not hourly pay. Pending rewards are excluded. Cash-outs generally occur once daily, with a 72-hour interval after PayPal changes or before four cash-outs.

Researchers can select participants by current country of residence, nationality, country of birth and language. Prolific also offers US state-of-residence filters.

Prolific publishes a general minimum study reward policy of GBP 6 or USD 8 per hour. It does not give a country-by-country rate schedule on that page.

Working abroad

Studies require you to be in your country of residence

Official information

Prolific says studies are available only while you are physically in your registered country of residence. Its July 29, 2026 help pages disagree about cashing out during a trip abroad: the holiday article says no, while the relocation article says yes.

The same pages also differ on whether an abroad attempt only blocks studies temporarily or may put an account on hold. Confirm cash-out access with support before relying on it during travel.

Permanent moves require a supported destination and updated details

Official information

Prolific directs permanent movers to contact support with their new address, match their PayPal account to the new country, and be ready for renewed ID verification. Moving to an unsupported country prevents continued participation.
